Marin Requested More Maverick Content…

So here he is in all of his glory. Maverick is a ~5ish y/o German Shorthaired Pointer. Marin claims to be his favorite, but we get along sometimes too.

Favorites of the week:

  1. Recipe: Lemon Chicken Gnocchi

This one was easy to throw together and absolutely delicious. It was also pretty filling so we were able to get more than one lunch out of it.

“She is more attracted by the fact that I don’t give a S*** about what she thinks, than she is disgusted by the dip in my mouth.” - Alex Hormozi (quoting a frat brother)

I thought about not including the actual quote, but then again, it’s my newsletter and I can do what I want. And although I don’t agree with the setting of the quote, I do resonate with the message.

2. Quote: The message I found here is twofold:

  1. Make people trust/like/fall in love with you so hard that the distaste of any part of you is trivial (🥸 i.e. a mullet or mustache).

  2. More importantly, be unapologetically you. Aspiring to be someone else is only going to keep you 2 steps behind in life. Sure you can model traits from others, but be genuine, be you, and own it. Your opinion of yourself will reflect on others much brighter than their opinions of you.

You can listen to the actual quote from Alex Hormozi on the Iced Coffee Hour Podcast at the 1-hour mark here for the full context.

3. 🤓 Thing I Learned: We talked about physician-aided-dying (PAD) (this is the newer, more accepted term) in class this week. I guess I just assumed that this idea had been around for centuries and had always been hotly debated, however, the first modern medicine PAD was performed in 1990. The physician was convicted of 2nd-degree murder and spent 8 years in prison.

  • I’m not here to debate the ethics of PAD, but the argument is very thought-provoking when you define active (administration of life-ending treatment) vs passive (withholding or withdrawing life-sustaining care) euthanasia.

4. Something Meaningful: 🏒 My hockey team has started off this season 0-3. I am always the last one off the ice and back to the locker room, and not a single game, has the mood been anything less than ecstatic when I get there. Everyone reflects on the good things we did and the growth we are seeing as a team. Sure there is nothing on the line (other than bragging rights), but it is refreshing to see a group of guys move on from failure so effortlessly.

Weekly Stats:

My test on Monday went well! It wasn’t my best test, but it also wasn’t my worst. Time to move on. The rest of the week was incredibly productive. I was able to stay very focused on school, while also working on a number of side projects.

Latest YouTube video

It can be tough to prioritize your health in medical school so my last video details the workout program that I’ve been following. Be sure to subscribe and turn on your post notifications so that you don’t miss the next one!

You can follow me on Twitter (I was attacked by Andrew Tate’s cult this week😬😅), Instagram, and YouTube if you would like to see what I’m up to more frequently than every weekend. I’m excited to check in with you all again next week!
