You can’t play the songs you want until you learn how to play the piano.

Our exam week went very well! I’m now just 3 tests away from the clinical portion of my studies.

Challenge Update: I kept up with making an agenda, but making an easy-to-read summary wasn’t as easy as anticipated. The following is a summary of how I spent the average day.

Work - Personal Brand - 0.75hrs

Work - School - 6.3hrs

Work - Other - 1.25hrs

Life - Marin - 1.75hrs

Life - Social - 0.7hrs

Life - Self - 0.2hrs

Health - Physical - 1hr

Health - Mental - 0.5hrs

Sleep - 7.3hrs

Time Wasted - 4.7hrs

*Rounding made these add up to just over 24 hours, I promise I do not have the ability to bend time!

It was very interesting to figure this all out because I was able to see how much “extra time” I have in a day that is currently wasted (this was any time not accounted for on my agenda, and therefore not spent doing things that are productive). I did also have food poisoning and got sick this week so hopefully, the following weeks are a bit more productive.

New Challenge: Relax - all of my previous challenges have been hyper-focused on being productive. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is to take some time to take care of yourself. I have the week off of school this week, so I am going to be mindful about how I spend my time, but make sure to take some time to just turn off and relax.

Favorites of the week:

1. 🍽️ Recipe: We had a busy week and didn’t end up cooking a whole lot so there’s no new recipe this week.

2. Quote: This week I don’t have a very specific quote, but rather a lesson from a mentor.

You can’t play the songs you want until you learn how to play the piano.

It is very easy to see the end goal and get excited about it, but it is very important to enjoy the process and make sure that you learn everything you can along the way so that you can be the best that you can be once you get where you are going.

3. 🤓 Thing I Learned: The 4-day workweek has been studied worldwide, and companies and employees alike have come to the conclusion that a 4-day workweek is better than 5. Revenue increased, as did productivity, and life satisfaction. As a student, I would love an extra day to spend organizing my week and working on things for school outside of our normal curriculum. What would you do with an extra day every week?

4. 📚 What Marin is Reading: Savage Throne* - this is the sequel to the book last week and she said it was very good and worth the read. I can’t say much more without ruining the book, so you’ll have to read it yourself!
